Take a minute or two to consider the following questions:
· Is your leadership team presented each month with just 15-20 financial and non-financial key performance indicators that underpin business goals and which reflect the most important levers you can control/influence?
· Do the key performance indicators and associated management information give you enough warning of a problem looming so that timely corrective action can be taken?
· Is a holistic view taken to consider the likely impact of management decisions to correct deviations from target (to avoid the ‘law of unintended consequences)?
· Is the business responsive to the needs of your customers?
· Does the time spent analysing management information justify the man-hours taken to create it in the first place?
· Is the leadership team spending at least 70% of its time looking forward in terms of business performance?
· Does everyone in the business understand how their outputs contribute to the achievement of strategy?
If the answer to any of these question is “no” there may be issues with your performance management system which could compromise business performance and/or result in inefficiencies and unnecessary costs.
One of the services we offer is a performance management health check. For a flat fee of just £5000 (excluding VAT) we will review business performance management against a number of best practice criteria covering measurement, reporting, data collation, and decision making. This fee also includes a half-day training/coaching event for up to 15 people.
